yummy green things for tuesday

1. starbucks blackberry green tea frappuccino
blackberry syrup blended into the regular green tea frappuccino; voluptuous whipped cream; an extra drizzle of syrup. it tastes much less of green than the normal maccha frappuccino, but was still fun. i won’t have it again, because it does not fit into my kilojoule-balance plan. but you, you should totally go ahead.

2. broccoli soup
bounteous broccoli, at a bargainous $1.98/kilo at the supermarket, necessitated four heads be purchased and cooked up in a large pot with onions, garlic, olive oil, butter, and chicken stock. oh, and two potatoes. truly, it is the gift that keeps giving; i think i will get at least another three meals out of this.

your broccoli soup certainly sounds better than gordon ramsay’s : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t…h? v=tFc6o2m9mMQ

strawberries are cheaper too now, aren’t they. i got a big punnet from coles for 2.80 and they were delish

I recently tried the blackberry-green tea frapuccino and I agree with you: it is wonderful – if a tad calorific!

(I must try my hand at making homemade soup soon, too!)

tian: thanks for the link! actually, that ramsay soup did look pretty tasty. i was hoping for his deep green colour, but i think i included too much stalk in mine (didn’t want to waste it) and also mistimed the simmering. four and half minutes eh? i’ll know for next time.

midge: aw. i like how the themed starbucks beverage brings the asia pacific region closer together. now that’s globalisation. :) your cheesecake looks amazing! we are not so lucky to have that here; they were just doing boring blackberry muffins at my store. maybe i need to venture into the chinatown branch.

sue! what’s not to dare? i have to tell you though, it is my favourite vegetable, and i would eat it in any form. i saw a fantastic-looking broccoli quiche at a cafe in that chiefley shopping centre in the city, with enormous trees of broccoli arranged into the base. oh how i wanted it! maybe you could try the gordon ramsay recipe.

i really like that photo of the soup… it looks like a delightful lunch. i still have a head of broccoli left over from pizza making last night, maybe it needs to be soup.

p.s. i save up my broccoli stems for stir fries or curries!
