ART TYPE THING See, tv's really not so bad for you. When you have enough of 'em, they help you look somewhat stylish, as if you were about to shimmy onto a cover of Wallpaper*.

This drawing is the cover of Artfiles2000, an arts directory for the Parramatta and Holroyd areas, packed to the gills and rafters with listings of museums, galleries, artists, arts colleges, events and more. Yeah. The "and more" always sucks 'em in.

My original idea was to have some creative types procrastinating away in their studio, much as you or I might do. And sure you'd be distracted - all those toys, all those bits of paper, and of course any self-respecting art director would have an old typewriter nailed to the wall...

Twas not to be. It's all about aspiration after all. Anyone can work in a messy (some would say "dirty") hovel, while even the trendiest, most painfully black turtlenecked among us (and I use the word "us" figuratively, without imagining for a second that I'm one of 'em) would probably not have a wall-o-teev in their lounge room. The 60s space chair on the other hand...

Anyway, so you can see just how tv improves your Wallpaper* rating by leaps and bounds, I'm sticking the original sketch in. The only thing that made it to the final version is Gozilla.

hey now hey now the dream is over.
