One of two illustrations I made for the progressive parenting-for-the-21st Century magazine, sml, before they claimed cash flow problems, and declined to pay me. In a perverse way, this picture was supposed to make parents go out and vaccinate their kiddies. After vetoing the idea I had - where a brave young prince fights off an oversized germ with a loaded syringe (the needle could be a little too violent) - they felt that this, my rendition of their original concept, was a little too creepy. It's the eyes, they said. Well yeah - the kid's got a bunch of germs on his stomach. Wouldn't you be kinda freaked out too?
