NOT ANOTHER SULTRY LASS FLAMENCO DANCING ON AN OLIVE
2002
When I was little, and had the best collection of little persons' books around, one of these books was "The story of Ferdinand". There was a book about Big Sister and Little Sister, and one about My Friend the Dentist, but Ferdinand is the one that counts here, because when I saw the sentence in the street press saying "competition" and "design a poster for the Spanish Film Festival" and "$1000", the sweet-natured bull was what came to mind.
And what does a bull do at a film festival? I dare say he would sit down and watch a film. And what would he eat? He might want a choc top, but it would be far too messy. Potato chips... too noisy in the quiet bits. So, popcorn. And what should he wear? Nothing, he's a bull.
And what would I do with the $1000 that I ended up winning? I would walk up the street, and buy a llittle round dining table, with a carved wooden base and curvy legs, and a mossy green marble top, because it would be the finest table on which to put a tray of cupcakes and a pot of tea.
