WAITING IN SPACE What a compellingly anal job this was. The design of the inside text... all right, the typesetting... was straightforward enough, but the authors' corrections, on top of editors' corrections, on top of proofreader's corrections, on top of authors' corrections, on top of editors' corrections made for some fun afternoons from which I emerged with a monster twitch in my eye. This is an anthology of ethnically diverse writing, by ethnically diverse writers, and I believe the word thrown around when I was briefed on cover design, was "esoteric". Hence the use of the holiday snapshots taken with my trusty plastic cameras, one of which cost $5 at Toys'R'Us and the other a lucky lunchtray prize when I last flew Japan Airlines.
