i also just wanted to say that the cafe in the local shopping mall has pancakes with banana and maple syrup on the menu. except that the word “banana” has been crossed out and the word “bacon” written underneath.

that is all.

On a related topic, I find myself bewildered by people who makes mistakes writing signs and then leave them, uncorrected, for all the world to see. For example, the new pizza place next door to my sister’s place has a large sign that reads “NOW ONEN”. Now, surely, a mistake like that does not go unnoticed!

Don’t get me wrong, I do sympathise with the signwriters. I once wrote a sign to put on some items of discarded furniture that read “PEASE TAKE” but I never for a moment thought “Oh well, people will know what I meant to write – I’ll just use it anyway”.

Do people really eat bacon with pancakes and maple syrup?

amber: well. *i* would rather eat pancakes and maple syrup with bacon rather than bananas. oh the sweet and salty and cakey, all at once! i thought i would feel the same way about the waffles at the cafe up the road, but when the waiter stood in front of me, pen poised, i ended up ordering waffles with berries and yoghurt. so i think the hierarchy goes: berry, bacon, banana.

    also, we all makes mistakes!

anna: cherries are always welcome, except when they’re goddamn $30/kg.

saffron: hello. i am pleased to meet you, horrified at the thought of bacon banana pizza and very honoured that you would link me. thank you. come again.

Hey, when are we going to breakfast at the place? I believe I am here, how is it we have not gone? There is nothing like sweet and salty mixed together. Also, I am the one who made that bagel boy in Seattle shudder when I ordered the chocolate-chip bagel with smoked salmon. Yum yum.

my dad ran a four star vietnamese restaurant, and one of the plate section headers read:

    HICKEN CHICKEN CHICK

don’t ask me, i have no freaking idea what it means, what it’s supposed to mean, whether it was even intentional… he changed the menu all the time, but i think it said that for almost a year…

bacon + banana would be an interesting combo. crunchy and squishy at the same time, salty and moist. i’d leave out the pancakes, no need for filler when you’ve got salty, squishy goodness.

    lol

totally no need for the stupid pancakes, and i heart carbs like nobody’s bizniss. it’s all about the bacon and banana. droolissimo.

hikaru, having the run of the kitchen of a four-star vietnamese restaurant makes you one lucky dude.

nellicent: i can’t believe you still want to go to that place for breakfast after that watery brown tasteless in a styrofoam cup they call coffee. and i’m not even such a dedicated follower of coffee. meanwhile, i can’t tell if the forecasted “clearing morning showers” have indeed come and gone, or are yet to happen. will we or won’t we make it to bondi? will we just make it to breakfast on the corner?

hikaru: free eats are good eats! and i might have chosen solely from the chicken menu based on the heading alone.
